Started sweet bell peppers, coreopsis, and forget-me-not

The bell peppers are all California Wonder -- some from my old tin foil set, some newer.

The coreopsis are all from the seeds I collected last year from a GA.

Forget-me-not are all from 2021.

Started more peppers, and chard, forget-me-nots, and coreopsis

The forget-me-nots are from the prime seed collected in 2023.

The coreopsis are from my collected seed from 2023.

The peppers are Early California (typical green bell peppers) and Hungarian something or other, both new to me this year.

The chard is of course the good old Fordhook.

Wow -- the March 12th seeds are all a-popping! Potted up, including WS some kales and chards

So yeah, for the WS-style, I potted up some of the kales and chards into the outdoor WS containers and taped them up.  I'll put them outside when it's not much colder than around zero, and will either bring them in or put them under a blanket when it's colder than zero.

Kale, chard, lettuce, forget-me-not, and coreopsis started in PT

Started lots of seeds today, all in PT.  For the kale, once sprouted it will be mostly-all outside (inside at night) because kale never grows well inside for me for some reason.

Kale:

- Vates Blue Curled (a new-to-me variety this year in the hopes that it will be a shorter variety, so easier to keep under tulle without touching the tulle re: white cabbage moth)

- White Russian

Chard:

- Barese (a new-to-me variety this year in the hopes that it will be a shorter variety, so easier to keep under tulle without touching the tulle re: white cabbage moth)

- Fordhood (old faithful)

Coreopsis (new-to-me plant; seeds from veganic Ferme de l'Aube)

Lettuce (I rarely used to start lettuce indoors, but it's so slow to grow outside in cool spring weather so will try giving it a head start this year):

- Romaine (Paris)

- Ruby Leaf

- Black Seeded Simpson

Sowed lettuce (Romaine "Paris Island Cos"), radishes ("Cherry Belle"), and forget-me-nots in north bed

Sprinkled all together throughout this bed south of the buckwheat sowed today.

I hate radishes!  But just for fun, figured why not.

The forget-me-nots are just for fun too.

Sprinkled some pre-soaked alfalfa pellets in the bed here at the same time (not a ton).

Stevia and forget-me-not potted up

4/4 forget-me-nots sprouted!

3/4 stevia sprouted, and I accidentally forgot about the last one so it's trash now.

Forget-me-not seeds harvested from a great plant

This particular plant grew so nice and big and strong, with lots of flowers.  I harvested some seeds from it in past weeks but the branches weren't fully brown/dry by that point.  They are now so I harvested a ton of seeds.

Seeds collected from a so-so forget-me-not

From the front bed.  A decent forget-me-not, but not the best --  Collected these seeds as an insurance policy in case a tragedy were to befall the stunner of a plant (super tall, had so many flowers) before its seeds have a chance to mature.

Transplanted hollyhocks, forget-me-nots, and poppies (Oriental and Flanders' Fields)

Hollyhocks:  x5, front bed against house wall.  They're quite small because there were raised mostly outside.  I'm sure if they had stayed inside under lights they'd be a lot further along.  But, they look healthy even though small.

Forget-me-nots:  x5 front bed, and x2 in yard next to compost bin.  Were definitely getting root-bound.  Hopefully will be happier to be in the ground.

Poppies:  Front-fence bed, mini patch of Oriental x ~8 or so, and one mini patch of Flanders' Fields x ~8 or so, and east-house-wall bed mini patch there too, can't remember which kind.  But it's really easy to tell because FF has deeply lobed leaves whereas Oriental's are pretty smooth-edged.  Winter sowing worked fairly well; they're ~2" high and look like they should do ok.  Trimmed the bleeding heart back a ton to open up the bed.

The most-stressed forget-me-not bloomed today

The poor plant is so short, maybe 6".  It's still in its pot.  Cute little flowers appeared today.

Another forget-me-not will bloom soon.  The others hopefully are doing better and won't bloom until later.

Hardening off started today! So beautiful and warm!

Wow, it's the start of a really warm and sunny stretch, highs of ~10-15.  Figured why not get start hardening off the parsley, forget-me-nots, celery, indoor onions, and indoor broccoli.  Gave them an hour in the sun today, then back inside under the lights.

Forget-me-nots started in paper towel/baggie

These are the seeds I collected last September from nice brown/dried flowers.  First time trying these indoors from seed.  ~14 seeds.

Blue flower in front yard must be cynoglossum amabile (Chinese Forget Me Not)

I luvvvvvs it!  Small blue flowers with blue centre, self-seeded from some past year when I sowed a wildflower seed mix.  Looks so nice among the zinnias.

Will try to collect the seeds and start inside next year.

If I need to buy seeds, be sure to get the ones with the blue centre, not the yellow centre.
