Sorrel transplanted and divided into new home

The sorrel is losing its long-time home in the NE corner, as that area will be turned back into patio stones this fall due to the window well flooding issue.

So, today I dug it all up.  I was amazed at how easily it dug up, and at how easily it divided -- the leaves were growing in clearly distinct clumps that were easy to tear apart.

The new home is still along that north wall, but now west of the patio stone section.  Divided it into four clumps there, with two bigger clumps on the ends and two smaller ones in the middle.

The web says sorrel is supposed to be divided in spring or early summer, so, time will tell whether it will survive this move.

Sorrel looking sad, and nibbled?

Hmmm, today I noticed the sorrel (the original one in north bed) is droopy-looking, and some of the leaves are bare to the stem.  And the taste is a bit wimpy, less pungent that normal.  We had a lot of rain recently, maybe that has something to do with it.

No snow cover along house walls -- sorrel and north asparagus completely exposed

Not much snow this year...  The areas along the house walls, especially the north and east walls, the bare ground is visible.  The sorrel, and all of the north wall asparagus, are completely exposed...  With temps reaching the -20s recently.  Oh well, we'll see what happens, the asparagus has been a mess lately anyway...

Sorrel recipes

Seeing someone mention sorrel soup in the Edible Gardens fb group made me suddenly realize I could be harvesting a lot more sorrel.  Usually I just eat some of the newest, smallest leaves first thing in the spring, so tasty.  But oooh, here's a collection of vegetarian sorrel recipes:
